Since Astronaut Ice Cream started in the 1970's, we thought it fit to make a list of Space Horror Films that also originated in the 1970's. So, pop some popcorn, grab some space treats and get ready for a creepy night in.
Alien (1979)
Film synopsis: In deep space, the crew of the commercial starship Nostromo is awakened from their cryo-sleep capsules halfway through their journey home to investigate a distress call from an alien vessel. The terror begins when the crew encounters a nest of eggs inside the alien ship.
The Incredible Melting Man (1977)
Film synopsis: A trip to Saturn has led to horror. Astronaut Steve West is transformed into a murderous gelatinous mass after returning from an ill-fated space voyage.
Beneath The Planet of The Apes (1970)
Film synopsis: The sole survivor of an interplanetary rescue mission searches for the only survivor of the previous expedition. He discovers a planet ruled by apes and an underground city run by telepathic humans.
Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1978)
Film synopsis: An extraterrestrial invasion begins in the fictional California town of Santa Mira. Alien plant spores have fallen from space and grown into large seed pods, each one capable of producing a visually identical replacement copy of a human. Little by little, a local doctor uncovers this "quiet" invasion and attempts to stop it.
Solaris (1972)
Film synopsis: Psychologist Kris Kelvin is sent to a space station orbiting the planet Solaris and while there, he begins seeing things and views an eerie farewell message from a previous occupant who has taken his own life.
